I sent 1,600 USDC from my Coinbase wallet to someone who claimed they would recover one of my accounts. I later realized that the escrow arrangement I had used was fake.
The person did not recover the account and I lost money that I had earned through work. I am sharing this because recovery promises and escrow arrangements can be used to target people already dealing with an account problem.
