I was contacted by someone using the false identity of Andrew Michael Cork, who claimed to work for the FCA and said he had recovered my stolen investment funds. He sent convincing-looking official emails and promised I would receive more than €70,000.
He persuaded me to buy cryptocurrency and send a reported €10,333 to help recover the money. I later reported total losses of €12,293. Anyone promising to recover stolen funds in return for a new crypto payment should be treated as a potential recovery scam.
