A wrong-number contact guided me into losing more than $32,000

I am retired and had little understanding of Bitcoin or cryptocurrency. A woman who appeared to live one state away accidentally messaged me. I have no wife or children, so I continued the conversation instead of ending it as a wrong number.

We did not talk exclusively about investing. Over days and weeks she seemed friendly and knowledgeable, and eventually presented what she described as a sure cryptocurrency deal. She guided me through each step because I did not understand the process myself.

I transferred more than $32,000, representing a significant portion of my savings. After the money was sent, the contact stopped responding and I was unable to recover anything.

There was no named platform in my account of what happened, so I cannot responsibly attach the loss to a guessed website. The part I keep returning to is how an accidental message slowly turned into financial guidance without ever feeling like a sudden sales pitch.
