I was told I needed to deposit crypto to verify a supposed payroll account

I applied through Indeed for a remote customer-support and document-verification role. After an interview and assessment, I was told I would be paid through cryptocurrency.

I was directed to Basex.hk and asked to deposit $400 in crypto to verify the account before payment. I did not send money, but this was enough for me to recognise the situation as suspicious.
