Critical warning for anyone being coached through crypto wallet steps on WhatsApp.
The scam does not always start with a direct request for money. It can begin as friendly guidance, a trading opportunity, or someone walking the user through wallet setup. Once the victim follows the instructions, the real target is often the wallet connection, approval, seed phrase, QR code, or malicious contract.
A June 18, 2026 r/CryptoScams post reported WhatsApp crypto scammers draining a wallet. I would never connect a wallet, scan a QR code, paste a seed phrase, or approve a contract based on instructions from a WhatsApp contact.
